Shaping some routes

This weekend we decided to ride some structured routes to shape the first leg of our Pedal Greece adventure. For this task we gathered with Thom and travelled down to Sparta to meet our "man" Doros, our local resident friend. Doros has been riding in the area for a good few years, and he knows every little peak and valley on the whole SouthEast Peloponnese.

This weekend we decided to ride some structured routes to shape the first leg of our Pedal Greece adventure. For this task we gathered with Thom and travelled down to Sparta to meet our “man” Doros, our local resident friend. Doros has been riding in the area for a good few years, and he knows every little peak and valley on the whole SouthEast Peloponnese.

First day we rode towards Parnonas, a great mountain with lots of loop routes and steep ascents. Its peak is at 1934 metres and it covers quite a vast area with many beautiful villages, forrests, monasteries, gorges and nice tarmac. The day was long and the climbing strong but we are super happy with the outcome and the options of our designed routes.

Next day we decided to ride South towards the sea. The Laconian Mani peninsula is a majestic place. You ride next to the sea up until you get to Cape Tainaro, the southernness point in mainland Europe and then you go round it and come back the other side of the point. The cape features a crazy-steep switchback that we will never forget. After that there are great scenery around as you approach Kotronas before crossing to the other side again.

Such an amazing route to ride!
