Based out of Kalamata and Sparta our #SpartanRoads tour is a 6-day mix of mid-level routes around the mountains of Parnonas and Taygetos with a full summit to sea experience of mountains and beaches.
This trip is about the mountains of Greece in their full majesty and brings together the summits and climbs with routes down to the beach with 5-6 full days of riding and one rest day. This tour can be adjusted from intermediate to advanced levels, but our preferred routes are around 80-100km days with a good amount of climbing, so we’d recommend intermediate-advanced riders comfortable with climbs.
We love the Peloponnese and there is so much to offer here that we didn’t want to pick a single place to stay. That’s why when you ride with us we’ll be moving through the landscape and staying in two amazing location – Kalamata on the beach and Sparti in the mountains. Our production team and support car will be helping us keep your stuff with you at all the as you move around to make this the best bike holiday you can have.
We’ll gather everyone in Kalamata at the start of the tour, and can organise transfers to and from Athens city centre or airport as needed. We’ll start out in Kalamata and get bikes built with a sea view, meet, have some drinks and get ready for our riding. On day 1-3 we’ll be riding out of Kalamata on the beach up into the Taygetos massif, hitting some alpine villages and cruising the rolling foothills, olive groves and wine country. On days 4-5 we’ll head over to Sparta and into the mountain of Parnonas where the landscape is more rugged with a mix of peaks and plateaus. We love the change in scene and landscape and we’re sure it will surprise you if you’re thinking Greece is about white house and blue seas – that’s for another trip to Greece!
On the final day we’ll bring everyone back over Tagyetos through some spectacular climbs and gorges before we settle on the final night in Kalamata ready for everyone to head on home after an epic adventure.
